Anchorage Snowfall Record!

Anchorage, Alaska set a new record for the most snow fall in one winter. It’s official everyone, a total of 134.5 inches! This broke the last highest snow fall that happened in the winter of ’54-’55. That’s what you get when it snows for 36 straight days!

This history making snowfall blew the state record out of the water, along with outshining other states in the United States. The next highest snowfall was in Lakewood, Colorado with 75.7 inches, and the third highest was in Rochester, New York with 56.1 inches. Anchorage’s official spot for measuring is the Anchorage International Airport and has been since 1998. Before that, it was measured at Point Campbell, which had similar meteorological conditions, so the measurements were fair in comparison.
